As of June 2019, the site is currently still removing contamination from soil and no vertical construction has started yet.

April 2021: The construction for the proposed outlet mall on the former landfill has been halted since January 2020.

The Boulevards at South Bay will be a 168-acre development project, 157-acres of which represent a former landfill. The Boulevards at South Bay Project provides for a potential mix of approximately 2 million square feet of commercial, retail and entertainment uses, a 300-room hotel, and up to 1,550 residential units (1,150 for-sale and 400 rental).

In 2016, Carson lost the bid for the NFL stadium to the city of Inglewood. The NFL stadium in Inglewood will be the home to Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. This Carson site was proposed to build a stadium to bring back a NFL team to Los Angeles.
