Mari Pulp and Paper Mill (known as "Marbumkombinat"). One of the largest enterprises of the Republic of Mari El. It was founded in 1938. The initial capacity of the mill was determined by 52 thousand tons of pulp. By the end of the eighties, after a number of reconstructions and the construction of new workshops, the plant's capacity increased to 116 thousand tons of pulp

It occupies a vast territory and has a full complex of wood processing to the final product-paper. The plant has production facilities that allow to produce up to 50 thousand tons of paper, 10 thousand tons of cardboard, 7 million square meters of fiberboard, 10 million square meters of corrugated cardboard per year.

The plant's products lost their competitiveness 10 years ago, and its life in the absence of serious interventions and investments in the development of production is only a matter of time, and since the plant is very large and brings the main income to the city, this is fraught with social and economic problems. During the crisis, I experienced not the best times, but today I have fully recovered.
