A series of foothill surround the one mountain, Jujak. This is a major historic sight for Koreans as this was the sight of Fort Taesong which protected the Koguryo capital. There are numerous historic and recreational attractions on Taesong and its surrounding environs. Among those buried here include Kim Jong Suk, wife of President Kim il Sung and mother of KWP Chairman Kim Jong il (right picture). Taesŏng is part of the Kangdong Mountain Range.
