cathedral, christianity, Roman Catholic church, nonresidential building
Site of the old Cathedral of Port-au-Prince burned down by angry mobsters in January 1991. A priceless colonial monument of Haiti's history, it was built in the 1600s by the Spanish before Spain handed over the land to France. The cathedral hosted the crowning of Jean-Jacques Dessalines as Emperor of Haiti. At least the land remains.
