Cedar Park Elementary School, now Artwood Studios (Seattle)

Cedar Park was a neighborhood elementary school decommissioned by the city, and then occupied by artists beginning in the 1980's. The artists received live/work studio status from the city, and began renovating the building.It is a quiet but vibrant community of sculptors, musicians, craftspeople and writers. Founding member Anne Paisley worked tirelessly to lay the groundwork that would make the adjoining abandoned parking lot into a park. The whole neighborhood spent hundreds of hours making that come true, and now it's a beautiful and well loved area used by all ages, ethnicities, wheels, and pets. Yay Artwood! Yay neighbors!
