This is the location of the Barnton Quarry ROTOR bunker. The surface buildings were built during WWII as a command centre for RAF Turnhouse. The site was extended in 1952 with the addition of a three level underground bunker as part of the government ROTOR project. The bunker itself is not visible from the air, but it is located to the north of the surface buildings between the visible buildings and the Edinburgh Council quarry to the north.
