The Delta Presbytery of the Synod of the Nile planted a church in Cairo in January of 1940. Rev. Ibrahim Said known as "the golden mouthed preacher," was elected to be the pastor in March of that same year. The Lord richly blessed the church and it grew so much that it was decided a new building was needed. A palace was purchased in the center of Cairo and the plan was to demolish it and construct the new church. In Egypt at that time the king's approval and signature were needed in order for a new church to be built. The Lord provided, and on March 21, 1944, King Farouk signed the permit that was needed to begin construction. The first cornerstone was laid in December 1947, and Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church was finished in 1950.

Dr. Said went to be with the Lord in May 1970, after 30 years at the church. The search began for a new pastor, and 6 years later Pastor Menes Abdul Noor took on that role. At this point, the church was the largest evangelical church in the Middle East. Pastor Menes was 46 years old when he began serving at KDEC, and his relationship with the church has flourished ever since
