This Fairfax site was the headquarters of ExxonMobil's downstream operating companies. These companies included the following:

ExxonMobil Refining & Supply Company (R&S)
ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing Company
ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties Company (L&S)
ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company (EMRE)
ExxonMobil Global Services Company (GSC)

The site is largely hidden by a large wooded area between the Capital Beltway on the east, Gallows Road on the west, Route 50 (Arlington Blvd) on the north, and the intersection of Gallows Road and Woodburn Road on the south. Prior to the merger of Exxon and Mobil, the site was the corporate headquarters of Mobil Corporation. Mobil played a key role in the development of Fairfax, and this prime location was one of the benefits of that role.

Today, the complex is home to the Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH), which includes research facilities, as well as MRI, cardiology and oncology services, among others.
