Formerly Powder Springs ski hill (and a cat skiing operation by the same name), this is the site of Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened in Winter 2007. Its development will continue over a 10-15 year period to eventually encompass 5000 acres and 6100 vertical feet. At 5000 acres it will be one of the largest resorts in North America, and its 6100 vertical foot rise will easily be the highest (currently Whistler Blackcomb holds that record with 5280).
The resort aims to be a 4 season destination with the inclusion of a large village as well as golf course. Its 60 foot annual snowfall is over 2 times the annual snowfall of Whistler Blackcomb (360 inches) and far greater than that of popular Utah resorts (usually around 500 inches). The resort is also only minutes from the town of Revelstoke (~7400 people) and Revelstoke Airport.
