In WWII this castle (after destrucion by the Spanish army in 1625 it was rebuilt ) was taken by the Dutch Waffen SS. Members of the Dutch resistence were tortured in the basement, women raped.
Those who were killed were thrown in the pond, which completely surrounds the castle. Nowadays you can spend a nice holiday here, while no-one tells you about the history.
