Assisted Living Facility on the site of the former Edgewater Beach Hotel

Approximate former location of the Edgewater Beach Hotel. The northernmost building in the complex was constructed here in 1916; both structures were demolished in 1970. Prior to the extension of Lake Shore Drive northward from its former terminus at Foster Avenue, this hotel complex was commonly visited by presidents, movie stars and unique dignitaries such as Mohatma Ghandi.
