A house on Ifield manor was mentioned in 1387, and a moated house in 1529. By 1835 it had become a farmhouse called Ifield Court occupying the northern corner of the moat; it was burnt down before c. 1875.
A new house east of the moat in revived vernacular style was built c. 1875 which is now the Ifield Court Hotel.
