Some history:
Before there was a service road here, this was a secret trail that would lead all the way to Morrow School on the other side of the development. You could actually drive your car back there.
This was THE first sound abatement wall ever to be built along the L.I.E.
When the D.O.T decided to connect some partial stretches of service road, the newly formed Village of Islandia said Whoa ! As a result , a study was done and the wall was built. Just about every locality since then has one. It is made of prefab concrete.
