Menlo Park's only bayfront open space and largest park, the popular Bayfront Park is surrounded on three sides by the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The park was created in the 1980's after an ill-advised landfill on the site was closed and capped.
The City of Menlo Park is considering developing part of the park. For information on the campaign to save this land, visit www.friendsofbayfrontpark.com.

None of the city council members who wanted to develop the park were elected:-) To the west of Bayfront Park are salt ponds that belong to Cargill Salt. Cargill Salt has quit collecting salt from these ponds and wants build on this area. They have hired a PR firm to convince Redwood City that this would be good. | ||||
