A boardwalk area in the style of roadside attractions (there's even a run-down parking lot used as the ground, but it was never parking and is supposed to look that way--though the effect ended up fooling many). The dinosaur theme permeates everything, from the boardwalk-style games, Primeval Whirl and Triceratops Spin, to even the shopping at Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures.
It was initially going to be the site of a wooden roller coaster called The Excavator which would have gone through a dig site. It was scrapped along with many other things at Animal Kingdom due to budget shortfalls during the parks construction.
