Delayed Coker (plant)

The delayed-coker processes the heavy residuum ("hot feed") from the refinery's crude units and produces lighter feed stocks as well as petroleum coke as a product. The most recognizable part of the unit is the row of six 90 foot tall coke drums. At any given time three of the drums are on line, while the others are either being pre-heated with 400psi steam, or uncapped for the removal of polymerized hydro-carbon (coke) which is then sold as a product.
