Estate home designed c. 1916 on originally 25 acres of land for Roland Livingston Redmond {attorney, capitalist}. Redmond served as a partner of the law firm of Carter, Ledyard & Milburn and was director of Louisville & National Railway and Atlantic Coast Line Railway. He also served as trustee of the Morgan Library, New York Public Library, and American Geographic Society. During WWII he constructed a prototype of a cargo ship that could be decommissioned upon arrival in Europe and used for scrap metal.
