Anchukallumoodu is a word of the local kerala dialect or language "malayalam" if translated to English mean "Base of Five Stones". The myth and belief proves that a Wich or a female Ghost locally called "Yakshi" or fairy who looks beutiful and attractive drank strong men's blood, only found during the the third quarter of midnight dwelled in this place years ago on top of the palm tree in front of Mulamkaadu..Meaning..Bamboo forest. The resident,s life were miserable and lived in fear. Ananthan Nampoothiri who was a great saint or Mantravadi or a wich doctor, travelling to Anantha puri(Now Capital Trivanadrum/Thiruvanthapuram)through Anchukallumoodu heard the complaints and the holy saint absorbed this blood drinking evil lady wich with the help of five Stones or small pebbles (Anchu=5 Kallu=Stones) and burried her under the stones.Remains of these Stones are still in this place and can be found in the nearby Rameswaram Temple. Mulamkadokom Devi temple existed later on from where this evil lady used to appear in the midnight,and as a memory every year the procession from mulamkadakom temple lays flower garlands in this place and pray for the goodness of the people around.
