Built in 1919, the 63rd Street Beach House was restored in 2000. Separate men's and women's changing booths used to fill the courtyards, and boardwalk-style food was available around the outside. Now one can walk on the second floor balconies for nice views of the ever-changing lake. The courtyards can be rented for wedding receptions and other events.

The Beach House is operated by the Chicago Park District, and is an official Chicago landmark.
