Sunrise Peak

Korea (South) / Cheju /
volcano, extinct volcano, UNESCO World Heritage Site

Sunrise Peak, also known as Seongsan Ilchubong (성산일출봉), is Jeju's most popular spot for watching the sunrise. Climbing to the top of Sunrise Peak is free for Jeju residents but requires a small fee of 2,000 Korean Won for non-residents. The crater was formed several thousand years ago by hydro volcanic eruptions. The crater itself is full of grass with rocky outcrops along the rim as the secondary volcano is extinct.
