  • Named after Francis Scott Key, the man who wrote our nation's anthem ("Star Spangled Banner"). When the mall was first planned and proposed, people thought it would be a failure because it was on the far side of town. But in fact, the opposite happened. The brief description above is not kidding when it comes to customers. FSK Mall is THE place to go if you're in Frederick. In the last decade or so having acquired and kept many name-brand stores, the mall is now quite popular. Stores include Barnes and Noble, DSW Shoes, Gap, Hollister, PacSun, Aeropostale, Charlotte Russe, American Eagle, Hot Topic, Yankee Candle, Game Stop, Claire's, J.C. Penney, Macy's, etc. Not quite the best mall when you consider just down the road there are places like Columbia Mall, Towson Town Center, Arundel Mills, etc., but still not too shabby and much closer at hand if you don't feel like driving an hour or more.
  • The above description needs a bit of updating. FSK mall is now the only mall in Frederick. Fredericktowne Mall is completely dead, with only Boscov's and Home Depot open for business.
