Cairn Park (Victoria)

Canada / British Columbia / Victoria

Cairn Park (aka High Rock Park). Named for the Cairn found at the peak of the hill. The Cairn was commissioned in 1962 to mark the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the Township of Esquimalt. At an elevation of 255 feet (check) the Cairn affords an excellent view of Victoria, Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olymic Peninsula in Washington. The open grassy area at the foot of the park is a popular off leash area. A notable mention of Cairn Park is that it has been a popular party spot for underage drinkers and vagrants alike for over a generation.

  • I use this park regularly with my family (in 2018) and there seems to be no sign of the partiers and vagrants. Lots of dog-off-leash people though....
