Corrales, New Mexico

USA / New Mexico / Rio Rancho /
 village, settlement

This is a cool little town. Founded by Pueblo Indians centuries ago and recognized as a pueblo by the Spanish at least as early as the 1770's, Corrales is a mostly rural community, unique in being a true, independent village nearly totally swallowed by a large metropolitan area, yet wholly dedicated to the agrarian lifestyle and arts. Beautiful. A gem.

Comments

  • Corrales is indicated as a pueblo in maps as early as 1776, and there are many indications that, whatever name it was called, this sloping, fertile crescent on the banks of the Rio Grande was settled by pueblo peoples for hundreds, if not thousands of years before Cortez wandered through the area..
  • Ridiculous Amount of Cops because only rich faggots live here
  • You obviously don't live here, Jorge, otherwise you would realize how stupid that comment was. Only a few cops are on duty at any one time. There only two main roads. And most of the houses are old and run-down, and the only rich people are building drywall eyesores in the sand on the western mesa and eating at Indigo Crow, and there aren't many of those. Don't misrepresent the Village.
  • The zone is incorrect. It appears to include a large chunk of Rio Rancho. Intel is in RR, not Corrales.
