Nokia Arena is a 11,700-seat sports and entertainment arena in Southeast Tel Aviv. The arena was opened on September 17, 1963 with a game between the national basketball teams of Israel and Yugoslavia, in which Yugoslavia won 69-64. In its early years it had a capacity of 5,000 spectators, with just concrete stands, without any seats, and without a roof. After a few years, a second level was built, increasing capacity to 10,000 spectators. The concrete stands were later covered by seats and finally, the arena was covered with a roof. The arena is the home of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team, a member of the Maccabi Tel Aviv sports club. The facility is the largest indoor sports arena in Israel, and therefore the Israeli Final Four and the Israeli Cup semifinals and finals are hosted there. The Israeli National Team hosts most of their games in Nokia Arena. It hosted the FIBA European Championship finals in 1972, 1994, and 2004 and the FIBA Euro All-Star Game in 1997.
