Vacation village, known for its fresh air due to the surrounging woods. Renown for its fine Nougat and for the export of chestnuts. Was an internment camp during WWII. A memoir has been written (publication date May 2007 by Syracuse University Press) detailing life in the village during this period when life in mountain villages, with limited contacts with the outside world, was rather backward compared to the rest of Italy.
