Tangtse village on Leh- Pangong Tso road. Tangtse lies on the valley floor through which the Harong stream flows. Surrounded by mountains, the village lies on flat arid ground with greenery to be seen only along the Harong stream. One road leads down from Chang La pass, another goes south toward Chusrul, and another crosses the stream and goes generally eastward toward Pangong Tso.

  • We took an overnight halt at a residence cum lodge, while returning from Pangong Tso. Nice place.
  • i am from tangtse. I would suggest anybody visiting Tangtse must go and visit the newly built monastery there. it's six years of sheer hard work of the villagers and the statue of "Jigsten gonbo" stands beautifully inside the monastery. From my own experience your wishes will come true if u have faith. Remember no photography inside. enjoy
  • i was posted in army est at tangtse. the place is beautiful. we have very fond memories. the people are very good and helpful.accommodation was a problem. things must have improved now.
  • I stayed in Tangtse for just over 3 weeks. Tangtse is a small village surrounded by mountains and a small tributary of Indus River passes through the village. Villagers are very hospitable and have a large heart. Changla Guest House is the best place to stay.
  • I stayed in tagtse for 2 yrs during 2000-2001 while serving in Army. Strange but nice place for adventure seekers, also visited pangong lake and helped tourists all over the world to rescue their veh from roads fully covered with frozen ice!
