mountain, railway, grotto, aerial tramway/ ropeway/ gondola lift/ skilift / cable car station (transport in the air), interesting place
A geological formation made of chalk and sheer coolness! Walking paths lead through a series of sea caves and along the foot of the cliffs. Access is via a cable-car ride from above. An interpretive film highlight's the spot's natural features, wildlife and history.
A World War Two-era British railway which linked Lebanon and Palestine, and the tunnels and bridges by which it negotiated the mountain here, are part of the place's history; the line was blown up in the Haganah's 1946 "Night of the Bridges" operation.
