Our Lady of Pompeii Church (New York City, New York)

Catholic grammar school and parish church to many generations of Italian-American immigrants. Completed in 1926, the neo-Classical church was designed by Matthew W. del Gaudio, featuring an asymetrically-placed tower at the corner of Carmine & Bleecker. The facade is lined with tall round-arches and Corinthian capitals capping the brick piers. A balustrade runs atop the roof line. The main entrance on Carmine Street features four huge Corinthian columns and a large triangular pediment.
