Nininger, MN (Site)Short-lived ghost town.
NININGER Township, established April 6, 1858, was named from its earlier "City of Nininger," section 18, which was platted in the summer of 1856 by John Nininger, for whom it was named. Niniger was incorporated by legislative act in 1857-58. By 1858 the city had a population reported at nearly 1,000. It had a post office from 1856-89. No trace of the original community remains.
