It is worth mentioning to all that the college is nearing the 150th year celebration. The vision of the Maharaja is really farsighted and thus many of the rural areas enjoyed the benefit of education. Unfortunately such a old college is not promoted as a University while many of the colleges are promoted as Universities. Pudukkottai has major population of illiterates. No university is started in this district while many places across the state accomodating one ore more Universities. People of Pudukkottai are representing least at higher level administrative and scientific position. To say no to this statement and to benefit the people the reputed college should be upgraded as Rural Education University with the funding of Government of India.
