  • This is where I went to school in the Nyabondo Boys Day Primary school and the Catholic Church and it happened that it is my grand-father ( Late. Mr. Sebastian Arombe Osimbo) who donated the whole land to the missionay Father B. Leo
  • Father Leo Bartels was a Dutch priest belonging to the Mill Hill Fathers who oversaw the building of the church, primary and secondary school. He told me that he went out to Kenya as a very young man. He was a gifted sculptor.
  • What Father Leo did, remains in our memories. The whole place still remains with the name "Ka'Leo" means home of Father Leo in our Luo language.
  • Nyabondo is a Complex, apart from all the facilities mentioned,Father Leo started a Nursing school here way back before 1962,the year the school was officially recognised by the nursing council of kenya. In exactly two weeks the Minister of Medical Services will be officiating during the graduation of Pharmaceutical Technologists,it is the only Pharmacy and Poison,s Board accredited college of its kind in Nyanza and south rift Regions.Another Milestone, another Cap on the Complex we love so much. • Original chapel site at the current Nyabondo High School donated to Asumbi Parish in 1930.
  • I am looking for relatives(probably grandchildren) of a man called Obosi Akuku who together with Otieno was in the team that started Catholic formal schools (otherwise referred to as "sekta" by natives). When they left Nyabondo they went to Uyoma, Siaya and started Nyamasore School. But Obosi returned to Nyabondo.
