I was stationed at Homestead AFB , my first Duty Station(Jan90-Aug92),and was a mate on Manatee 5 with the USAF Water Survival School. I loved working here at Turkey point and the fishing was great. Due to Hurricane Andrew we had to relocate our Operation to Tyndall AFB FL and Then to Pensacola NAS.

  • I was stationed at Homestead and worked at Turkey Point from Jan 80 through Jun 86. This was 6 1/2 of the very best yrs of my life. I am still in contact with Bob Stone, (Stoney), and Darryl Morris, (Mo). We see each other every year and play golf, drink beer and reminisce about our days at "The Point". What awesome times those were.
  • I was there from 1975-1979, Great duty. Great fishing, and people worth getting used to. Gene Farmer was skipper on my boat and John Mulder was Mate, get crew.
  • I was there 69-72, anybody around that time probably knew Gene Farmer.
  • Took the course in the '75 while at the Nike Base in Key Largo. this butter-bar must have been asleep when the instructor was describing manta ray wing tips breaking the surface. When they dropped us into the bay, he must have thought it was a pair of sharks & he almost ran on the water to the raft...funniest thing I ever saw.
  • I was at turkey point from Jul 77 to Dec 80. During that time, I was skipper of man.5 and man7. My engineer on 5 was m.merica and b.pennington on man7 Those were the best years of my Air Force career. I retired at the end of dec1980
