Snake Hill (A 150-foot hill, likely an old volcanic neck) and the area between it and the Hackensack River today comprise Laurel Hill County Park, part of the Hudson County Park System.

  • I suspect that the "snakes" that gave the hill its name were not natives, but put there by criminals who used the hill as a hideout, in order to discourage anybody from snooping around.
