Upper Secondary School Designed by the celebrated architect Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1831. The wall facing the park has memorial plates for three Finnish presidents who attended the school: K. J. Ståhlberg (the first president of Finland in 1919–1925), Kyösti Kallio (1937–1940) and Martti Ahtisaari (1994–2000). Another plaque on the wall marks the Nobel peace prize won by Martti Ahtisaari
in 2008. The Kajaaninkatu wall has a memorial plate for war victims: those who lost their lives in the Oulu bombings in 1939–1944, and Mathias Madsen, a Danish volunteer who was lethally wounded in a
bombing in 1940.
