1830s construction, Roman Catholic church
The church of the Immaculate Conception was built in 1830 by Patrick Byrne. Most Dubliners, however, call it the Adam and Eve, a name that goes back to the times before Catholic emancipation, when they had to hold mass surreptitiously in the back room of the Adam and Eve inn in Cook Street.
