Dashmina Upazila (Patuakhali district) with on area of 351.44 sq km, is bounded by Bauphal upazila on the north, Galachipa upazila on the south, Lalmohan and Charfasson upazilas on the east, Galachipa upazila on the west. Main river is Tentulia.

The location of the Dashmina town is 22.2820632N 90.5655545E. Dashmina (Town) consists of 3 mouza with an area of 19.94 sq km. It has a population of 14737; male 50.22%, female 49.78%. The density of population is 739 per sq km. The literacy rate among the town people is 31.4%.

Dashmina thana was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 6 union parishads, 51 mouzas and 55 villages.

As of the 1991 Bangladesh censu7s: Population 106539 ; male 49%, female 51% ; Muslim 93%, Hindu 7%.
