North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC distributes and markets hot rolled bands and coils. The company offers its products to coil processors, cold roll strip producers, original equipment manufacturers, steel pipe and tube industry, and steel service centers. It was formerly known as North Star BHP Steel Ltd. and changed its name to North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC on March 19, 2004. Founded in 1997, North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC operated as a joint venture between Cargill, Incorporated and BlueScope Steel Limited (Australia's largest steel producer) and has an annual production capacity of 2.1 million tons with customers located in Canada, Mexico and the United States. In 2015, Cargill sold its 50% interest in the company to BlueScope Steel for $720 million.
