Peruvai Bridge


Peruvai submersible bridge is the first major Government funded (in part)project in Peruvai village. Work started on this bridge in 1957 and the construction was completed in 1958 at a total cost of Rs.24,500.00 of which Rs.14,500.00 came from local donations and the rest from the Government.The bridge was thrown open to the public on 9-06-1958 by Sri.K.R.Achar, Member of Parliament.The bridge is 102 feet in length and most Peruvaians will have experienced the submersible nature of this bridge especially during the monsoon rains.

2007-08 will be the Golden jubilee year for the Peruvai bridge.To this day, the bridge carries 2 commemorative plaques with details about the opening of the bridge and also the costs.
