Peruvai BridgePeruvai submersible bridge is the first major Government funded (in part)project in Peruvai village. Work started on this bridge in 1957 and the construction was completed in 1958 at a total cost of Rs.24,500.00 of which Rs.14,500.00 came from local donations and the rest from the Government.The bridge was thrown open to the public on 9-06-1958 by Sri.K.R.Achar, Member of Parliament.The bridge is 102 feet in length and most Peruvaians will have experienced the submersible nature of this bridge especially during the monsoon rains.
2007-08 will be the Golden jubilee year for the Peruvai bridge.To this day, the bridge carries 2 commemorative plaques with details about the opening of the bridge and also the costs. May the Peruvai bridge continue to serve the people for years to come ! Category: bridge
