Tata Steel established Group Vocational Training Centre in Joda in 1976.
The Group Vocational Training Centre at Joda caters to the training needs of Joda Group of Mines.
Joda Group of Mines constitutes of Joda East Iron Mine, Khondbond Iron Mine, Joda West Manganese Mine, Malda Manganese Mine and Bamebari Manganese Mine. These Mines are located in & around Joda within 20 km radius. The Iron Ore Mines like Joda East & Khandbond are under control of Mines Division where as Manganese Group of Mines (Joda West, Malda and Bamebari) are under control of Ferro Alloys & Mineral Division.
Over the years, with the introduction of new technologies in Mining, Group Vocational Training Centre at Joda, has been developed into model training institute for mining industry with experienced faculty members and modern training aids to meet the training needs of all employees.

In addition to catering to the skill developmental needs of employees of Mines Division, contract labours and employees’ wards, the Gr. VTC Joda also provide vocational training facility to the students from various engineering colleges.

Mr. Abhay Chaudhary, Sr. Manager(Training) is the In-charge of this centre.
