Tophat Terrace, which is now occupied by a firm of solicitors, was designed by
James Frank Smith, and built in 1864. On the face of the building are sixteen heads representing Smith's father, a private decective, in some of his many disguises. The building was restored in 1987 and is one of Leicester's architectural gems.
