The Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD), situated at Family Link @ Lengkok Bahru
currently provides long-term residential services and short-term respite care to 91 severely
disabled residents between the ages of 8 to 61 years of age. Out of 91 residents, 8 are
children.
Background
Since 27 March 2010 – RCHD moved to larger premises at Family Link @ Lengkok Bahru
from Elizabeth Drive, to cater to increasing demand.
The new 5,500 square-metre purpose-built facility with open wards and isolation rooms
increases the Home’s overall capacity by more than 50 per cent to 100 adults and 30
children, from its current residency of 76 adults and 8 children.
The residents of the Home suffer from various disabilities which include Down Syndrome,
cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, muscular dystrophy, epilepsy and other severe physical
disabilities. This is the only residential Home in Singapore that provides residential care to the severely disabled in Singapore.
