Regal Cinemas E-Walk (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 42nd Street, 247
 store / shop, restaurant, cinema

5-story theater and retail complex completed in 1999. Designed by DAIQ Architects, E-Walk is short for "Entertainment Walk", housing several restaurants and a Regal 15-screen movie theater. The west end of the building has the main entrance to the Regal cinema (as well as a small, secondary entrance to the adjoining Westin hotel), and behind it there is a narrow wing extending up to 43rd Street. The entrance is designed to evoke the style of the historic theaters that line the street. The ground floor is capped by a wide segmental-arch with two silver metal pillars, and a triangular-shaped, projecting, gold marquee with decorative shell shapes. The wide outer piers are fluted, resting on black granite bases, and project out above the ground floor to support fluted, engaged columns that culminate in a series of fluted, disc-like capitals at the roof line. Between the piers is a tall round-arch, textured by projecting ribs and blue diamond-shapes; the opening within the arch is filled by multi-paned signage. Attached to the inner edge of the west column is a vertical lighted sign for the Regal.

The rest of the south facade is composed of a series of building masses in tan and beige pre-cast stone and concrete, largely covered above the 2nd floor by advertising sign boards in a variety of sizes and shapes. The movie theater originally opened as a Loews, but after the company was acquired by Loews in 2006, this location was sold and became a Regal theater.

The north facade on 43rd Street rises seven floors, clad in dark grey brick. There is a recessed metal service door at the left and a loading dock with metal roll-down gate at the right on the ground floor. Above the service entrance is a bay of small, square windows, and above the loading dock are four bays of taller single-windows. A large black metal vent caps the top floor.

Besides the movie theater, the building is occupied by Yankees Clubhouse gift shop, Dallas BBQ, Lids hats, Target, and a CVS pharmacy.
