The James River Bridge is a highway bridge which crosses the James River between Newport News and Isle of Wight County, Virginia near the mouth of the river at Hampton Roads. When completed in 1928, it was the longest bridge in the world over water, 4.5 miles. It has since been rebuilt a couple of times. It also has a large lift bridge section for tall ships to pass.
