The Chail Palace Hotel (Chail)

India / Himachal Pradesh / Solon / Chail
 hotel, heritage

The Chai Palace Hotel grandly reflects the royal era of yesteryears. Built in 1891, the maharaja’s palace was purchased by Himachal tourism in 1972 and was converted into a heritage hotel. The hotel is a blend of both western and Indian styles and offers spectacular views. It has a wide range of rooms on offer having different tariffs so suit each visitor.

The palace was built by the Maharaja of Patiala when he was banished from entering Shimla by the British authorities. He countered the move by setting himself a new summer capital – now famous hill resort of Chail, 45 km from Shimla.
