Gunongan had erected by Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607 - 1636) as a private playground. According to local belief, this building was built to resemble the hills are located in Pahang, Malaysia and the Empress made the request himself, who always missed his hometown, Pahang, which allegedly hilly hill. Actually, during and since the building was founded is not known clearly. Expected structure's history symbolizes Mount Mahameru and may also aimed at Agni, the god of fire in the Hindu religion.
