This school was established in 1899 by a group of nuns, 'The Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus', from Singapore. Initially the building was small, but due to the school's ever growing amount of enrollment, a proper building was built in 1911. It was constructed in the English Gothic style by government architects Mr. Huxley and Mr. Kesteven. The new building was officially opened by Mr. E.L. Brockman, who was the Chief Secretary of the Federated Malay States.
During World War II, Malaya fell to the hands of the Japanese Occupation. Eventhough the school was often interrupted, all the buildings were left intact and unharmed. After the Japanese Occupation, Rev. Mother Adele returned the school to its original state with the help of the British Military Administration. Today, this premier all-girls secondary school is famous for its high achievement in academic, sports, and other activities for secondary school level in Malaysia. It is considered as one of the best non-residential schools in the country.
