Khojali district (Azerbaijani: Xocalı rayonu) or Askeran district (Armenian: Ասկերանի շրջան) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan.
It is located in the west of the country in the Karabakh Economic Region.
It was founded in 1936 as Askeran district of NKAO of Azerbaijan SSR of the Soviet Union.
Khojaly district was established on the basis of the Askeran district of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast in 1991.
In 1991–2023 it was the Askeran province under control of the unrecognized Republic of Artsakh.
Now Azerbaijan officially renamed Khojaly district.
