Magadi irrigation lake

India / Karnataka / Mulgund /

Magadi village is located on the state highway connecting Lakshmeshwar and Gadag, 11 kms from Lakshmeshwar.

This place hosts an irrigation tank that attracts 3000-5000 Bar-headed Goose (Anser indicus) every winter. Around 50+ Brahminy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea) are also seen.

Many of the collared BHGs that have been photographed in this area suggests that they fly from far off wetlands located in Mongolia.
