The Urals Aluminium Smelter, situated in Kamensk-Uralsky, is an alumina and aluminium complex, using bauxites supplied from the North Urals (SUBR JSC) and Middle Timan (Timan Bauxite JSC) mines. Commissioned in 1939, its main products are currently alumina, primary aluminium, silumin and alloys. In 2009, the complex produced 82,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 717,000 tonnes of alumina. The smelter uses power generated by regional co-generation plants. The facility employs 2,900 people.
