Opened April 29, 1961
Architect BN Zhuravlyov (Institute workshop № 6 of Lenproekt).
The name derives from the name of a nearby department store Frunze (wikimapia.org/154401).
In the project of the station was known as Obvodny Kanal.

Station pylon type with a short central nave (Hall) deep (39 m) burial. Oblique stroke (exit from the station), containing 3 of the escalator, located in the north end of the central hall.

Underground room tiled with white polished marble. End part of the central hall is decorated with bas-relief made of aluminum and red glazes, depicting MV Frunze on horseback, surrounded by the Red Army against the backdrop of war banners (sculptor V. Sychyov). Apron room solution is simple: pylons faced with white marble extend upward track walls are covered with tile.
